Peninsula Park Rose Test Gardens, Portland Oregon
The Rose Garden in North Portland established in 1912 was Portland's first rose garden and in 1913, the gardens earned Portland the nickname, "The City of Roses." In 1917 The site for Portland's International Rose Show and other festivities moved to what is now considered the official Portland Rose Gardens in Washington Park in NW Portland.

What makes Peninsula Park special For Danny and I, is that it was the first park we drove by and not in wedding planning mode, three years ago, we both said, "This is where we are getting married." According to Portland Public Parks, Peninsula Park is unique in that it holds historical significance for the city or Portland:

"Other original design elements remain today - the ornamental fountain, street lamps, brick walkways, and the music pavilion. This octagonal bandstand overlooking the rose garden was used for World War I patriotic demonstrations and is now the site for many summer weddings and concerts. This wonderful gazebo-like structure is a National Heritage historical structure and was designated a Portland Historic Landmark in 1973. It is the last of its kind in Portland.

Parking: Peninsula park is a large park with free parking around the perimeter. There are also several neighborhood streets close by with free parking. The park is close to PCC Cascade and the streets directly around the campus are monitored for students using the neighborhood parking paces to park for going to class. On Saturday this is not an issue. Just make sure not to park in the PCC Cascade parking lot.

Danny and I are so excited to hold our ceremony in such a historic place. After the ceremony, see schedule post, there will be time for our guests to enjoy Peninsula Park. Please take some time to experience all the beauty surrounding you.
